There is no good news coming for the Game of Thrones fans who are likely to endure a longer waiting period before the final season of their favorite HBO fantasy series is aired. Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark on the show has stated that the Season 8 of Game of Thrones won’t be aired before 2019. This is what Sophie said in an interview recently.
“Yeah, I’m really excited. Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. Dark Phoenix is in November. Then I have a couple of indie movies coming out. I’m a producer on my next movie (Girl Who Fell From the Sky). So I’m really excited about the future.”
Considering the hype around Game of Throne’s season 8 which will draw the curtains on the epic series, a lot of fans are likely to be frustrated that they will need to wait well over a year to see the new episodes. However, HBO is trying to ensure that those six final episodes contain a lot of substance and grandeur, which might make the wait worth it. Sophie Turner also discussed about the challenges that her character will face in the final season.
“It’s going to be tricky for her because, at the end of last season, she felt that she had everything set up. She had her family back together. They were in control of the North again. This season, there’s a new threat, and all of a sudden she finds herself somewhat back in the deep end. And without Littlefinger, it’s a test for her of whether she can get through it. It’s a big challenge for her, without this master manipulator having her back. This season is more a passionate fight for her than a political, manipulative kind of fight.”
The season 8 of the fantasy drama will have only six episodes that will be longer than normal. This would be like watching six Game of Thrones films in 2019. Sophie Turner also informed that there is still about “six or seven months left” for filming to complete. Sophie also said that the cast is well aware of this season being the final season of the show.
“There definitely is. When we all had the read-through for the final season, it was very, very emotional. For the first time in Thrones history, we had everyone there. All of the Americans wanted to come over. Every single cast member was pretty much there. We’re all kind of feeling the end of it coming. We’re all staying in town a little longer, going out for more meals, trying to get together more. We’re all trying not to take it for granted anymore.”
It is not yet known as to what will happen in the final season of the series. However, Jason Momoa recently visited the set, and he said, “It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable.” As per the reports from Variety, there is no premiere date announced for the Game of Thrones Season 8 as of now. However, it is possible that HBO would hold back the announcement for some more time as the show is not coming back for a considerable period of time.
