Justice League has become the latest name on the long list of great movies which turned out to be box office failures. Warner Bros. Studios were confident of the movie being a hit while most of their other films had failed terribly. Justice League was projected to be the movie that would redeem DCEU and become their most loved production after Wonder Woman. However, while Wonder Woman received appreciation from all, Justice League once again fell prey to the divide between fans and critics. People loved it; critics hated it. The critical rejection caused the movie to perform badly at the Box Office. DCEU as well as the studio, both suffered as this caused terrible damage to Justice League’s earnings.
The one film which had truly symbolized this fan-critic divide was Batman vs. Superman. It was a game changer for the darker portrayal of DCEU. They ignored the Marvel’s warm, child-friendly movie making style. Snyder made such a dark and realistic movie which made a lot of grown-ups squirm by the time it ended.
The film was denounced by the audiences for ‘being too real.’ The same thing happened to Man of Steel. Nobody had shown Superman to be a killer, but, Snyder defied the mythos. Thus, the film got criticized by all. Wonder Woman is the only DCEU film till now which has been loved by critics, fans, and audiences. Justice League was supposed to be in the league that Wonder Woman had set up.
Most people expected the Justice League to earn more than $1 billion easily. It has just about crawled past half of that. That too accounting for the domestic and overseas earnings put together. One of the reasons why Justice League did so badly was due to the continuous interference by the Studios in the Director’s work.
Snyder had a clear vision, but, WB didn’t pay attention to that. They told him what to do and compelled him to follow the orders. Then they replaced Snyder with an ordinary director like Whedon which surely didn’t help. He reshot whole sequences and deleted many to make a weird final cut.
One of those deleted scenes had the potential to give you goosebumps. We are not joking here. It was absolutely awesome, and we wonder why Whedon decided to delete it from the movie. Had he lost his mind?? Was he on a mission to destroy the movie?
Do you have a clue about the scene we are discussing here? If not, then let’s tell you.
A Reddit user Stanley has revealed an image from one of the deleted scenes featured in the Blu-ray version which was removed from the theatrical cut. The scene depicts Bruce Wayne and Arthur Curry – in the village bar where they first met. Bruce Wayne is shown behaving like the rich spoilt brat that he is, and he is trying to offer money to Aquaman, King of the seven seas to become a member of the Justice League.
Fans have been pleading Warner Bros. to release the Snyder cut in Blu-ray format. However, that seems unlikely with each passing day. However, it doesn’t mean that the deleted scenes won’t be a part of it. Various Snyder scenes would feature in the Blu-ray cut. In fact, the digital release would have some of the scenes helmed by James Wan too. The James Wan scenes will focus on Aquaman and his backstory of underwater Kingdom of Atlantis.
Will that scene be a part of the DVD release? We don’t know. We can only hope just the way you are hoping. However, there were several scenes which got deleted. It would be fabulous to see them, the way Snyder had planned it. A director’s cut is on every true DCEU fan’s wishlist. We hope WB Studios pay attention this time!
Justice League features Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa as the main superheroes. Stay tuned for the DVD/Blu-ray versions because they will be fantastic!
