1980’s was ruled by films filled with adventure and loads of action. This was majorly because of the craze for Star Wars. This decade had all kinds of movies. We had numerous awful movies (Masters of the Universe), terrible films (Superman IV) and unwatchable trash (Flash Gordon). In any case, I’ve brought to you the top 10 Sci-Fi Movies of the 80’s. The movies listed here have high standards as far as the nature of writing, story, acting, music, is concerned. In short, these were the best.
10. Predator -1987
It was an awesome action movie! It had a fabulous base and a perfect end. What begins as a “shoot-them-up” transforms into an alarming game of a cat and mouse chase between Arnie and a high-tech hunter alien. With the marvelous line “I ain’t got time to bleed!” how can you possibly expect the movie not to do well?
9. ET: The Extraterrestrial
Many people will feel that I ought to have placed ET higher up on the list. Without a doubt, ET has some great minutes, especially when ET is watching soap operas and drinking beer, and Eliot, who’s away at school, copies everything ET sees and does. Furthermore, yes, it’s a standout amongst the most applauded movies ever. However, I simply don’t care for this film. I don’t exactly know why. Maybe it’s simply outrage related to the absurd Atari video game. Truly, however, maybe what bugged me the most was the idea that “government scientists” were the baddies who might swoop in and take poor ET away to an unverifiable destiny. All the poor chap wanted was to go get back to his home planet. Alright, fine, yet wouldn’t you feel that any scientist who learns of an alien would be hopping out of his skin to try and talk to it? It appears as though Spielberg simply needed to have baddies out of sheer pressure. In this way, he made nitwits out of the scientists.
