Justice League released a couple of weeks back, and the response from the fans has been incredible. According to the fans, the film is great and all the moviegoers, comic lovers or not, are having a great time watching this film. Then there are the critics, who followed the same pattern that they displayed at the time of pre-Wonder Woman DC releases. The Rotten Tomatoes currently has a Justice League score of 43%.
Thor: Ragnarok was released a month back and everyone knows how the film has turned out to be an absolute fun trip which is being loved by the fans as well as the critics in equal measures. It is the most daring Marvel film till date and undoubtedly the best Thor film so far. The movie has a 92% certified fresh score on The Rotten Tomatoes.
DC faced a lot of trouble due to the unfavorable reviews by critics which fuelled some fan backlash too. However, things are different this time because Justice League is unlikely to suffer from that issue as fans are loving the movie. Thor has turned out to be a great success and could be on its way to become the highest earning Marvel film of 2017.
Both the films have gone past individual milestones on the domestic and international box office. While Justice League started slowly earning only $96 Million during its opening weekend domestically, it has slowly and steadily gathered pace courtesy the international box office earnings. As per the latest reports, the film has officially gone past the $500 Million landmark at the global box office.
The fresh reports showed that Justice League has made $178.8 Million at the US domestic Box Office and it also has earned an additional over $325 Million internationally. Thus, the movie’s current total stands at approx. $505 Million.
It is now rapidly catching up with the other DCEU films. Batman v Superman totaled $873 Million, Wonder Woman earned $821 Million, Suicide Squad earned $745 Million, and Man of Steel also made an impressive $668 Million. The way Justice League is going, it might just beat them all by the time it finishes its box office run.
On the other hand, Thor: Ragnarok has also gone past a huge box office landmark. As reported, the film has crossed $800 Million mark in less than a month of its release, and its final total is going to be massive.
At present, the film has a total of $280 Million at the domestic box office and a massive $520 Million on the international box office that has enabled the film to cross the $800 Million milestone.
During its short run, Ragnarok has already outperformed the following MCU films – The Incredible Hulk ($263.4 million), Captain America: The First Avenger ($370.5 million), Thor ($449.3 million), Ant-Man ($519.3 million), Iron Man ($585.1 million), Iron Man 2 ($623.9 million), Thor: The Dark World ($644.5 million), Doctor Strange ($677.7 million), Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714.2 million), Guardians of the Galaxy ($773.3 million).
Although, these are not all of the movies from Marvel Cinematic Universe, but, a lot of them have now been surpassed by Thor 3, and it is all set to go past Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. These two films have a tally of $880 Million and $863.4 Million respectively. Once Thor: Ragnarok crosses this landmark, it will become the highest earning comic book based film of the year.
While both the films have been doing well on a personal level, Thor: Ragnarok is likely to finish with a higher total than Justice League, and it might even touch the $1 Billion mark. In any case, fans are glad that both these films have been successful.
