Among the biggest joys in the galaxy far, far away after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm has been the way various characters across mediums appear in other storylines to consolidate each other’s role in the shared universe. An upcoming comic book will show the Star Wars Rebels character Hera Syndulla to be at the Rebel base on Hoth before the incidents of The Empire Strikes Back.
The first issue of Star Wars Adventures: Forces of Destiny – Princess Leia, will show the Rebellion to be on Hoth. After finding a destroyed ship, Han, Leia, and Hera ride tauntauns to the crash site, hoping to find parts that can be used for the shield generator that secures the planet.
Among the various characters shown in the animated Star Wars Rebels, Hera has turned out to be the most renowned and has repeatedly featured in other mediums too.
The last year’s film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, had a mention wherein General Syndulla was called over a PA system, just before the attack on Scarif. This proved that Hera has not only survived the events in her own TV series but, she has continued being a key part of the Rebel Alliance.
This reference in Rogue One about the TV series surprised the audiences as well as Vanessa Marshall, the actress who voices Hera.
“Fantastic, I almost started crying,” Marshall said about how she felt upon hearing the name of her character. “I had to remember I was in a public place and had to contain myself. I thought I was losing my mind and started asking, ‘Did that really just happen?’ I went to see it a million times, and every time, I was just blown away. It’s good to know that she still exists at that point, so that’s a good thing, but also being such a huge fan of every Star Wars film that’s been released, having a character I’ve played in an animated series be mentioned…it was really rewarding.”
We are not sure whether we will ever get to see the character in a live-action movie, as a decision has not been about it.
The last season of Star Wars Rebels will end in early 2018.
