This Major Marvel Character Is Certain To Die in Avengers 4

Dec 08, 2017 Jorah Comics 0

During an interview, Kevin Feige, President, Marvel Studios stated that the two Infinity War films are the eventual outcome of all that we have seen so far in the MCU and beyond that, we will see a fresh start. This is a clear indication that some of the major MCU characters are destined to pack their bags for good in 2019. Kevin Feige went on to confirm that a crossover will take place between Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy and that is going to continue in the next Avengers film.

Marvel Cinematic Universe is now a decade old and has brought 18 films to the big screen. Time has come when the MCU is at some kind of crossroads, and it is not clear which direction will it take in future. There are two more years to go and some more films to release before the MCU Phase 3 will finish. Although, it is accepted that some of our beloved characters will bid adieu, there will be some others that will survive and continue their journey beyond the carnage.

With Avengers 3 and Avengers 4, the MCU will witness a grand expansion with over 70 comic book characters appearing in these two films which will initiate a fierce competition among all the leading characters to grab more screen time. Most of the superheroes and villains will literally be shoveling each other to get more visibility in this epic comic-book event. Marvel has already put together a fantastic team under one franchise which will result in such a huge comic-book crossover as a culmination of its phase 3. It is not wrong to say that the Infinity War movies are the most eagerly awaited superhero team-up movies till date.

The iconic story will remain true to the comic book and will first show Thanos discovers the location of all the Infinity Stones, puts them together to create the almighty Infinity Gauntlet which leads to a global catastrophe and then Avengers 4 will showcase the ultimate battle between the joint team of Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy who will battle against the Mad Titan to protect the universe.

While, the Avengers:  Infinity War cast is overloaded with major characters, but, the most famous comic-book character is Thanos. So far, we only saw him in post-credits of Phase 2 and three movies, but, Infinity War is going to be the full-fledged cinematic debut of this villain who is in pursuit of his evil objectives. Josh Brolin is bringing the character to life on the big screen, and he is very excited to get this chance. He used Instagram to display a photograph of his appearance as the most powerful living being in the galaxy. He showcased the immense powers of the Infinity Stones. Each of the Stones is incredibly powerful on its own, and as a set, they have the power to reshape reality and destroy the whole universe.

During an interview, Josh Brolin frankly discussed Avengers: Infinity War and said he might not get hold of all the Stones in the film. This led to a speculation about Thanos’ mission of possessing all the Infinity Stones stretching into Avengers 4. To dispel those rumors, Brolin said:

“I haven’t done the second movie, so I don’t know. I literally don’t know what the second script is. I don’t know if they’ve finished the second script, and that’s the truth. I think they’re in the midst of structuring and restructuring.”

He further explained that Thanos would use psychological tricks as well as raw destructive force.

For a long time, rumors have been doing rounds about Samuel Jackson coming back as Nick Fury in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. Now, the rumors have been confirmed by deadline.com and Jackson is definitely returning, with a formal announcement expected in San-Diego Comic Con. It will be the first time that his damaged eye will be shown. He had been hurt in a grenade explosion during the Second World War, and with the passage of time, he lost 95% of his sight, forcing him to cover it with an eye patch. He is also famous as “one-eyed” man.

Nick Fury founded “The Avengers” by first approaching Iron-Man in 2008. His last on-screen appearance was in Avengers: Age of Ultron. At present, the extent of his involvement in Captain Marvel solo film is not known, but, the news was certainly exciting.

The film’s director Jon Watts recently shared that the original plan was for Nick Fury to mentor Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming instead of Tony Stark. Watts said:

“Interestingly, while Tony was the obvious choice, especially after the events of Civil War, I started creating images of Nick Fury as the mentor in the story in early “mood reels” before getting the job. I don’t know what the situation would be, but that would be a person he’d want to get in trouble with.”

Fury mentoring Peter won’t have been a surprise as the duo has a great deal of comic-book history. In fact, Marvel animated series even showcased how Fury had an impact on Peter’s life. However, it was the great chemistry on display between Tony Stark, and Peter Parker made the filmmakers decide on furthering their bond by incorporating the Spiderman films into the MCU.

However, this story has a great turnaround because Samuel Jackson has recently stated in an interview that Marvel has not contacted him for any film whether it be Avengers: Infinity War or the underproduction Avengers 4. A new casting call, seeking a lookalike of Samuel Jackson, has been issued and it suggests that Nick Fury will be among those who will perish in the Infinity War.

Atlanta-Journal-Constitution had earlier confirmed news related to Marvel and has now reported that the Infinity War makers are looking for a doppelganger of Samuel Jackson’s character Nick Fury. This is the casting note in circulation:

“Man #1 – looks African-American and is age 30s to 50s, from 6’2″ to 6’4″ and has a chest size of 38 to 40. You’ll need to be bald and must have a goatee or have facial hair that you’re willing to cut into a goatee to match the actor.”

The description makes it clear that it is not aimed at the character of Rhoades played by Don Cheadle as we have never seen him with any facial hair in the earlier films. The other possibility is that this could be for the Anthony Mackie portrayed the character of Falcon because he also has a goatee just like Nick Fury. However, the chances are stronger of Nick Fury’s departure and not of Falcon. The film Captain Marvel is based in the 1990s, and it will release in the gap between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War has completed production, and Avengers 4 is speeding ahead. Recently, there was a casting call inviting “1970s model types” females for two days in Atlanta. They were required to be Caucasian females in the age bracket of 30-49 year. The description given was “attractive” and having “natural hair color only no highlights, no tattoos, long hair preferred, hippy, flower child style.”

While there is no information given about the kind of flashbacks, but, this is not the only time that Marvel is resorting to flashbacks to strengthen the story. It is guessed that the flashback might be showcasing the 1974 Stark Expo or an event from the past life of Captain America.

Avengers: Infinity War is seeing a real and massive hysteria building around it, and new updates are coming out regularly. Sometime back, Benedict Cumberbatch joined filming in Atlanta, and since then various set photos featuring him have come out. He is playing the role of globally renowned Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange who has become a master magician after meeting the ancient one in the aftermath of losing his hands in an accident. He is now seeking to find the meaning of his life, contemplating various options that reveal his fate. For several years, he tried to find a miracle cure to fix his problem and eventually landed at Tibet. He gave up the orthodox medical science and delved into sorcery and mysticism. He then became a member of the order.

A new video is doing the rounds these days, and it depicts the former surgeon battle invisible forces, invoking his magical powers and repelling an attack by forming an X with his arms. The mighty unseen power bent his arms down and made him kneel. It could be possible that the unseen force was none other than Thanos himself. The attack might be an endeavor to capture the “Time Stone” aka Eye of Agamotto which was being safely kept at Kamar-Taj in Nepal.

The other segment of the footage shows Dr. Strange in the company of his friends and they are the most powerful secret group that has ever been seen by mankind. The group is called – The Illuminati. Marvel President, Kevin Feige has also confirmed their plans to unveil Illuminati in the Avengers: Infinity War. Iron-Man aka Robert Downey Jr. shared a photo where he was with his assumed Illuminati friends such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong in his costume and Mark Ruffalo. The comic books had Black Panther, Professor X, and Fantastic Four as a part of the Illuminati. Had Nick Fury been a part of this secret society, it would have been simply fabulous. In the recently released footage, we saw all of the above move around streets littered with car wreckages, some of which were burning and Downey Jr. wearing a motion capture suit.

Below is the official synopsis of the Avengers: Infinity War:

“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.

The film will release on May 3, 2018.
