From the fan favorites who made a come back to unexpected plot twists, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has turned out to be a great roller coaster for fans. However, as far as the various creatures featured in the movie are concerned, there is one new addition, (other than the Porgs) who has won the audiences over – the Caretakers.
This species of Force-aware “fish nuns” were repeatedly seen during the movie on Ahch To, keeping the island and its profound Jedi origins under their control. However, as the film progressed, they appeared to be some kind of lovable comic elements, often being annoyed by Rey (Daisy Ridley) and her efforts to get trained by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
“They’re all female, and I wanted them to feel like a remote sort of little nunnery,” Rian Johnson, the director of the movie had stated earlier “Neal Scanlan’s crew designed them, and costume designer Michael Kaplan made these working clothes that also reflected sort of a nun-like, spartan sort of existence.”
True that the Caretakers are not important in relation to the storyline of The Last Jedi as they only indulge in “a blubbery sort of Scottish fish talk.” However, that didn’t come in the way of the netizens wanting to know more about the “fish nuns” or simply declaring their love for these creatures.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently playing in cinemas all over the world.
