By this time in 2018, the sequel to Academy Award-winning movie Suicide Squad would be deep in production.
Omega Underground has reported that Suicide Squad 2 will start filming during 2018. This follows the early reports suggesting that the movie will start filming in March 2018, which would have clashed with some other Will Smith projects.
The initial reports about Suicide Squad’s likely production date appeared back in August and suggested that the film will release sometime in 2018. Then it was reported that the filming would get delayed due to Smith’s involvement with Gemini Man and the live-action Aladdin.
Other than that, it seems most likely that the Suicide Squad 2 will go into production in October 2018, taking into account the various projects of DCEU. Shazam! Is going to be their next movie to start production and it is presently in the middle of casting decisions. That will be followed by Wonder Woman 2, which is likely to start filming in summer 2018. On a realistic note, Wonder Woman 2 will be wrapped up or close to finish its principal photography by October, and that will allow Suicide Squad to get the desired focus.
Further details have started emerging about Suicide Squad 2, such as the film is going to be directed by Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant). The film’s ensemble cast remains under wraps as of now other than Will Smith’s character of Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot, Margot Robbie’s popular character Harley Quinn and Jared Leto’s portrayal of Joker. Cara Delvigne (who played the evil June Moone/Enchantress) is not sure about being a part of the sequel, and there have been speculations about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson making a debut as Black Adam in the film.
Justice League is the currently playing DC movie, and it would be followed by Aquaman on December 21, 2018; Shazam! On April 5, 2019; Wonder Woman 2 on November 1st, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020.
