Netflix has renewed Stranger Things for a 3rd season. The streaming giant struck a huge gold last year with the launch of Stranger Things. The blend of 1980s nostalgia, great cast, and a surprising story made Stranger Things a cultural phenomenon. It was not a surprise when the series had been ordered for a second season.
Thanks to the pop culture status that the show has attained, it was all but given that the 3rd season of the show will arrive soon. With more than a month passed since season 2 has launched, Netflix has officially made the news about season 3.
Netflix had announced that Stranger Things would return for a third season. The news is not a surprise, and there is no set timetable for when the season shall premiere. Netflix releases a new season of the shows every year and viewers can expect Hawkins, Indiana and the Upside Down by late 2018 or early 2019.
Stranger Things season 3 will bring the show’s main casts back: Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Dacre Montgomery (Billy), and Sadie Sink (Max) are all confirmed to return.
The Duffer brothers have confirmed that season 3 will make a huge time jump to allow the young cast to mature, so there will be a good deal of offscreen character building. Details on season 3 are under wraps, but it is expected that the Mind Flayer will factor into the proceedings in a huge way- building on the final shot of Stranger Things 2. This is where the monster had been shown lurking over Hawkins Middle School, from the Upside Down.
Just like season 2, Stranger Things season 3 will not mark the end of this series unless something changes. The Duffers have said that they envision Stranger Things to run for 4 or 5 seasons. How long the show runs remains to be seen, but at least we know that more Stranger Things is on its way.
