Because of the achievement of The Force Awakens, we get the opportunity to expect much more material from the future-yet some way or another set-in-the-past universe of ghost Samurai, familial show and magic. Clearly, next on the slate is Rogue One, whose “last” trailer is released. However, with the trailer out, we also have some noteworthy concerns from the recent Rogue One trailer. Here they are….
7. The Absence Of Jedi and The Force
We’ve been told many times by those involved with the film that the Jedi are taking a back seat for Rogue One and this alone is a worry. Who knows whether the film will be a win without the warrior space-monks?
However, to some degree in spite of what we have been told, this most up to date trailer features a place called Jeddah, which is home to an essential Jedi temple. Matched with Donnie Yen referencing the Force implies that they haven’t been overlooked totally. This only raises further concerns. Hinting at the Jedi could prompt viewers pining for the familiar lightsabers. Ideally the film will be sufficiently strong without the Jedi. However, it could go both ways.
6. It Is Pointless Having Darth Vader Back
Darth Vader is apparently the most recognised asthmatic robot-man in silver screen. He’s the character the entire Star Wars adventure is based around so his appearance here is not precisely a shock. It could be simply unnecessary.
The trailers so far have given us some extremely encouraging looks of Ben Mendelsohn’s Diretor Orson Krennic. Furthermore, he seems to be a great villain. Rogue One could have quite recently given us him and been finished with it. However, I assume Disney wants to sell more Vader dolls so we have two noteworthy villains. Vader could play second fiddle to Krennic however he would still throw quite huge shadow.
In addition to this, we haven’t seen Vader since we saw the mask put on the face of Hayden Christensen’s whiny Anakin Skywalker. Whether you like it or not, narrative proximity implies this Vader is that same person.
Whether spoiled by the prequels or not, the expansion of such a noteworthy character among these unknown ones will be all anybody discusses if they botch it up. Thus, hopefully they will be able to pull it off.
