Jacob Batalon is the guy who played Ned in Marvel Studios and Sony’s film Spider-Man: Homecoming and he wants to see Venom be the leading villain in the sequel to this blockbuster.
Screenrant spoke to Batalon during the New York Comic Con and the actor was questioned about his preference as the villain of the next Spider-Man movie “in a fantasy world.”“It would be interesting to see, like, Venom, but that’s just me though,” the actor said. “We’ll see what happens. I’m not gonna say nothing else.”
However, there are not really good chances of this taking place. First of all, the Tom Hardy starrer Venom is being touted to be an R-rated franchise, and then Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has also stated that though the character features in the Spider-Man Universe of Sony, he might not be a part of the MCU. “I think they’re focusing on making a great Venom movie,” the Marvel Studios President had said. “And I don’t know much about it, but I know they’re off to a good start with Tom Hardy.”
There is some time left for Sony and Marvel to figure out who will be the next challenger to the Spider guy as the film is scheduled to release on July 5, 2019, which is a couple of months after Marvel’s Avengers 4 and it is based right after the events of that movie.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has been directed by Jon Watts, and it features Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
