Warner Bros. began a renaissance for the superhero movies with the release of Wonder Woman over this summer, reversing the negative response to movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.
But the movie was not just a well-received one among its DC Comics properties, it was the best-reviewed superhero movies of all time.
And Rotten Tomatoes recognized that.
The movie review aggregator compiled a list of the overall top-rated superhero movies and the Princess of Themyscira took the top pedestal of this competition.
Rotten Tomatoes’ list had been determined by an adjusted score to the Tomato Meter’s normal percentage, using Bayesian inference to determine the movie’s score based on a number of reviews it has received.
With this method, Wonder Woman had scored at 108.549%. Patty Jenkins’ movie barely beat out Logan (107.954%) and The Dark Knight (106.313%) to reign on the list. Those three top movies regular Rotten Tomatoes ranking sit at 92%, 93%, and 94%, respectively.
While this may be surprising to some, Wonder Woman was a critical and box office hit with a lot of staying power and made it as one of the most profitable movies of the summer. The movie beat out Spider-Man: Homecoming and the previous WB movies, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad in the domestic markets.
Other movies in the top ten include Spider-Man: Homecoming at #4, Thor: Ragnarok at #5, Marvel’s The Avengers at #6, Iron Man at #7, Captain America: Civil War at #8, The Incredibles at #9, and The LEGO Batman Movie at #10.
The top ten is a respectable list filled with modern classics in the superhero genre. But Wonder Woman beat all the rest.
Fans will see this character’s return to the big screen when Justice League premieres in theaters on November 17.
