When people started believing that the red color of the Sith Lightsabers are just to make the fight look artistically cool, Star Wars came up with an explanation that left everyone pleasantly stunned as always. It was because of the Kyber Crystals inside them are alive and they bleed. As soon as this was revealed, the next question in every fan’s mind was about how a Sith went about constructing their lightsabers.
The answer to this question was revealed as a part of the official Star Wars canon in a new Star Wars comic book. In simple words, the Sith torture the living crystal to leave them with immense pain. When George Lucas made A New Hope back in 1977, he hardly had any explanation for this. However, Disney is leaving no stone unturned to give every single thing a reason for existing in the Star Wars universe. The reasons are not just some random imagination to satisfy every fan’s appetite, they fit in the story perfectly.
Marvel released a new comic called Darth Vader #1, describing Sith Lord’s backstory between Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One. The comic reveals to the fans how Darth constructed his epic red lightsaber by seeking a little help of his mentor Emperor Palpatine. After losing his blue lightsaber while fighting with Obi-Wan Kenobi on his future home of Mustafar, Darth asks his master Palpatine about the red lightsabers and expresses a desire to know how they get their color.
Palpatine answers Darth saying, “The crystal from any Jedi’s saber will do. As you know, the Kyber’s are alive, in their way. Like any living thing, they can feel pain. Through the dark side, you must pour your pain into the crystal. And when, at last, the agony becomes more than it can stand…a beautiful crimson. The color of your rage.” He explains that the Kyber Crystals used in Sith Lightsabers were regular Kyber Crystals before being stolen from the Jedi. When a Sith separates a crystal from Jedi and uses the dark side of the force, they pour their rage directly into the crystal which gives the crystal its color.
The comic will further show how Darth constructed his lightsaber which is believed to be the only one used in the entire trilogy. Shoot in your views about this new theory firm Star Wars in our comments section below.
