It seems that Mark Millar might be hinting at a 3rd movie starring Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl.
In 2010, Millar and John Romita Jr.’s Kick-Ass was adapted into a movie and had released to theaters. The first movie was an adaptation of the comic book series, where high school nerd, Dave Lisewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) decides to become a superhero named Kick-Ass and fails. It is after training and meeting fellow superhero, Big Daddy and Hit-Girl (Nicholas Cage and Chloe Moretz) that Dave becomes a hero.
The second movie, Kick-Ass 2 which arrived in 2013, was met with less enthusiastic responses from audiences. The sequel’s weaker box office had led most fans to assume there would not be a third entry but a tweet form Millar just changed this perception.
Millar, who has been busy as recently with other properties had taken to Twitter to tease some big Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl news coming, It may be related to the Kick-Ass comic announced last year, which will feature a black woman as their titular hero, though the image attached to this tweet is a photo of Johnson and Moretz’s movie versions of the characters.
Though Millar and his co-creators had recently signed a deal selling Millarworld and its properties to Netflix, the Kick-Ass and Kingsman franchises were not part of the arrangement. Thus, whatever the announcement Millar plans to make in the days ahead is, it will be one that’s separate from his current role of developing new comics, movies and TV series for the streaming platform.
