Star Wars fans went crazy with joy when reports came about the return of Mark Hamill to reprise his iconic character Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens. However, his character was seen only in the movie’s end moments, standing silently. Fans have waited for two more years with excitement to hear Luke speak. However, Hamill recently told Good Morning America that his most important line has already been revealed in The Last Jedi trailers.
“In fact, the most important line, I think, Luke says, is, ‘This is not going to go the way you think.’ When I read the script, I was stunned,” Hamill revealed.
Star Wars fans are aware of the fact that not only Hamill is coming back, but the late Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will also make a comeback in their respective roles. The gripping story of The Force Awakens took the viewers to Rey’s journey, and they almost forgot about Hamill’s promised appearance which made his disclosure even more surprising.
After initially reading the movie’s script, Hamill was also surprised at a great deal of mention the character got, despite never being shown.
“I thought, ‘This is the most elaborate entrance of my career,'” Hamill recalled. “Everybody talks about me for two hours. I’m reading it, and I kept marking down, ‘The sword of Skywalker is too powerful, Skywalker must be stopped…everybody’s talking about me!’ It was a shock.”
Although the star might not have expected such a short appearance to be his much talked about comeback to this galactic saga, he assured that the franchise’s secrets are only beginning to unfold.
“It was a big surprise, but I think there are much bigger surprises in The Last Jedi,” the actor remarked.
The movie has a great deal of surprises, and Hamill even used Twitter to ask his fans to avoid ruining the surprise for other fans and try keeping the movie’s details to themselves.
All those secrets will keep tumbling out when The Last Jedi releases in cinemas on December 15.
