A fresh rumor related to Star Wars: The Last Jedi might prove to be more exciting than the prospects of seeing Luke Skywalker for some fans.
As of now, a lot of things are not known about Vice Admiral AmilynHoldo, the character played by Laura Dern in “The Last Jedi.” She is the new in-charge of the resistance. She has arrived and shook the situation up by her rift with Poe Dameron. She might also be the first queer character to feature in the space saga.
As reported by W Magazine, the rumors have originated from the novel “Leia: Princess of Alderan” which is linked with “The Last Jedi.” The novel is canon, and it shows Leia and Holdo back in time. As young ladies, they behaved like normal young people and discussed love, sex, and romance. Holdo states that there are various species that appeal to her as long as their eyes are pretty.
This is when it becomes interesting. Leia said that she likes only humanoid males. Holdo responds by saying, “Really? That feels so limiting.”
That could be a clear indication of her inter-species preferences. However, a lot of fans feel like that she is stating that she can’t limit her interest to one gender only. That would be in sync with an earlier comment by JJ Abrams who had stated that there should be gay characters in the trilogy.
We will know certainly if Laura Dern is indeed going to be the first queer character in the Star Wars franchise when “The Last Jedi” releases on December 15.
