Justice League has a secret post-credits scene which includes the introduction of Deathstroke and the reappearance of LexLuthor, who has broken out of Arkham Asylum. This break-out is what we want to focus on because it seems to be teasing another popular DC villain, the Joker.
When the final scene of the movie began, a guard in Arkham approached Luthor, who was turned around in the cell. Luthor did not turn around in spite of the guard asking so many times. The guard then walked up and discovered that it was not Luthor. A man with a shaved head had replaced the villain, and he was cackling when his face had been revealed.
For those who read DC Comics, it seems as though the man is possibly under the influence of Joker’s laughing gas, one of his staple weapons. The strained smile and over-the-top laughter were almost dead giveaways.
When you think about the rest of the scene, it adds up.
LexLuthor tells Deathstroke that they must form a league of their own, implying that they would need numbers to take on the Justice League. It is possible that he has been in touch with many people than just Deathstroke. With the kind of resources Joker has, he would present himself as a powerful ally for Luthor.
There is the ending of Suicide Squad to consider as well. Joker busted into Belle Reve and freed Harley, so he has the resources to make escapes. Was he the one to have pulled off the big move of freeing Luthor from Arkham?
While this may be possible, it is likely that the man in Luthor’s cell was just a lunatic.
Justice League is now screening in theaters nationwide.
