The powerful Parr family will undergo a transition in Incredibles 2 which is set to release in the upcoming summer.
Yesterday, Disney unveiled the official summary of the sequel to Brad Bird’s movie Incredibles. It hinted at a new leader for the team of heroes and the debut of a deadly new bad guy, as well as the ongoing perils of “normal” life at home.
You can read the synopsis below:
Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life/ It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again – which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.
The most important thing about the synopsis is its confirmation of the earlier remarks by Brad Bird and Holly Hunter where they had stated that Helen would be the iconic star of the film, instead of the original where Bob was the leader.
The synopsis also talks about a fresh villain, who might be voiced by one of the newest entrants to the franchise, Bob Odenkirk or Catherine Keener. There will be a more substantial role for Samuel L. Jackson’s character Frozone in the movie after he became popular among the fans post The Incredibles.
The movie’s initial teaser trailer showed Jack-Jack displaying his own special powers. Unlike the other family members, the Parr infant seems to have a different power set including laser-eyes, electricity as well as the capability to convert himself into an inferno.
Brad Bird has written and directed the movie, and it is produced by John Walker and Nicole Grindle.
Incredibles 2 will release in theaters on June 15.
