Game of Thrones will not be coming to an end with Season 8. Although the series will air the final Season next year or even the year after, Game of Thrones will continue with spin-off prequels. The world of ASoIaF is big, so it is highly possible for HBO to make spin-offs.
A month ago, Entertainment Weekly had confirmed that 5 spin-off prequels was commissioned and are in works. Bryan Cogman, executive producer and writer of the HBO series and George R.R. Martin will be working together on “successor of Game of Thrones”.
Bryan Cogman had mentioned that no prequel will air before the show ends. So, it likely that fans will get their first Game of Thrones prequel in 2020. According to HBO CEO, Richard Plepler, 2 spin-offs are so along that he has seen drafts of them. He told Variety: ‘It’s a fantastic group of writers and talent, most of whom have lived inside the Thrones eco-system so are very, very familiar with its intricacies.”
‘I think we will find with this embarrassment of [writing] riches an exciting property for us to move forward with.’
Not all the prequels will make it to the Pilot, but the fact that 3 are drafted, means that we are going to get at least one prequels soon.
We have Season 8 of Game of Thrones left. Work on the 8th Season of Game of Thrones began and filming will take a long time. It has been reported that the season will take up to summer of 2018.
The Season 8 of Game of Thrones will hit screens by December of 2018 and it may push to January, but let us stay hopeful.
Thanks to the prequels, we can enjoy Thrones. Sure, the characters may differ, but we will dive deeper into the world of Ice and Fire.
