The latest publication from The Marvel Legacy initiative has placed the spirit of vengeance on an inter-galactic hell bike. However, everyone is asking the same question: Who is the new rider?
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Thanos #13 and “Thanos Wins” Story Arc.
The creative duo of writer Danny Cates and artist Geoff Shaw has created a new issue of Thanos which brings the Mad Titan face to face with a new Ghost Rider. Soon after Thanos ensured that it rained blood from the skies of defeated Chitauri, a burning motorcycle streaks through. The biker is seen carrying a brimstone whip which has the Cosmic Power belonging to the harbinger of Galactus. The story takes a mysterious turn when the rider is stated to be one of the former heralds of the cosmic villain and “The Black Right Hand of the Final King.” The true implications of the last line will become clear in the upcoming issues.
The rider descends to the ground and doesn’t show any inclination to battle Thanos. However, the confusion causes them to start fighting. The fight reveals that this Ghost Rider possesses a piece of the Time Stone and that allowed him to travel back in time. The flaming red chains wielded by him were created out of the bones of Cytorrak, which is a name that Dr. Strange fans will easily recall as he is known to utter a powerful spell called the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak. The description clarifies that this rider is totally crazy and his identity might not be a mystery to the sharp-brained comic book readers.
The formal revelation of this Ghost Rider’s identity will take place in the future issues of the “Thanos Wins” storyline. Cates shared his joy with fans on Twitter, and he further teased the readers with the hashtag #WhoIsTheReader.
Several guesses have been made about this new Ghost Rider from the future might be none other than Deadpool. The so-called “Final King” is Thanos himself and he acquired the title after winning the Earth and becoming the king of its ruins.
But, these two have a common love interest in Lady Death, and that prompted Thanos to curse Deadpool with immortality which meant that he would never die and once again unite with his lady love in the afterlife. The red and black text bubbles also indicate towards such a possibility. We wonder if they have forgotten their past enmity? The Ghost Rider from the future has come to meet the young Thanos to share the news of evil’s victory. There are bound to be several surprises and mysteries hidden in this insane cosmic story.
Thanos#13 is now available at comic book stores.
