With the unprecedented success of Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot has become the darling of the masses as DC’s most renowned female superhero. Although Justice League was a setback, the Wonder Woman is here to stay in the DCEU. By the looks of it, Gal Gadot will keep going as long as she can, however, have you thought about the reboot that’s bound to be made several years from now? If Gal Gadot’s daughter’s plans succeed, then she would take over the mantle of the Amazon from her mother in future.
Gal Gadot was asked in a recent interview about how the response of her six-year-old daughter to the Wonder Woman phenomenon. While Gadot has not let her daughter watch the film, she said that her daughter is already fascinated by it and has even expressed her wish to play the role someday. This is what Gal Gadot said.
“She loves it. She didn’t watch the movie yet because I’m the mother and I just try and protect her and give her normal things, but she will definitely. She’s very proud. She’s very, very proud… She’s already asked me if she can take over when I’m older.”
Gal Gadot is 32. Therefore, it is safe to assume that she can go some distance before hanging the boots if she wanted to continue that is. In any case, she is going to be around at least till Wonder Woman 2, which is also the comeback film for director Patty Jenkins. Jenkins had also discussed about her 9-year old son, who is interested in her work which is a new addition to her life as she started directing first time with Wonder Woman.
“My son doesn’t care about what I do that much. But he plays with superheroes, and he cares about those things and watching my own child’s transformation of being like, ‘Oh, I need that Wonder Woman doll, OK cool,’ she became a serious character to him. He loves Wonder Woman, and it’s been amazing to watch this character come back to that generation in such an authentic way and everything she stands for, right alongside all these other great characters.”
The realization about a 9-year-old boy having such a reaction to her character is a testimony of the impact created by Wonder Woman. Its sequel Wonder Woman 2 will release on November 1, 2019. Therefore, we are going to see Gal Gadot play Diana Prince for at least two more years. Her daughter is way too young as of now, but, who has seen the future? Perhaps another 15 or 20 years later when WB thinks of a reboot, which is pretty much a realistic guess, there would be one perfectly suitable casting choice available to them, as disclosed by Gadot during her interview with Entertainment Tonight. Wouldn’t that be beautiful?
