It has been almost a month now since Star Wars: The Last Jedi released, and on the hand, a lot of people have their grudges with the film, there is a section of the audience that was shocked to realize that they really loved Porgs. Before the film released, Porgs were all over the news, and the Star Wars fans felt that these cute tiny creatures might be the reincarnation of Ewoks, who would occupy a lot of screen space. Rather, the Porgs dished out a few light-hearted moments and minded their own business. But, there was one sequence in The Last Jedi which didn’t turn up the way Porg lovers expected it to. Now a smart YouTuber has done a good job to rectify that scene and make it incredible.
This Porg scene took place on Ahch-To when Luke Skywalker lobbed his just recovered Lightsaber over his shoulder, shocking Rey who had discovered it. After a few scenes, two excited Porgs come across the Lightsaber and start inspecting it. One of them is a la Luke Skywalker from A New Hope and staring at the laser sword, and the other jumps on the activation button. As expected they manage to turn it one and one of them gets nearly sliced in two, disappointing a section of Star Wars fans.
That scene has now been rectified by YouTuber Daniel Molinyawe. He might have spent a lot of hours of labor to create the short 7 seconds clip as it is an almost impeccable piece of work. The Porgs are curiously carrying out their Lightsaber inspection, however, this time instead of getting sliced in two, the Porg, in the end, gets a hole burst through him and it is really funny. Daniel Molinyawe used some footage captured in the movie theater and edited it by using Adobe After Effects. Molinyawe disclosed that the scene was chucked out because Mark Hamill found it to be inappropriate. The dead Porg later became a roasted meal of Chewbacca, and that ended another plot hole.
Chewbacca later felt bad about having killed some Porgs, but, there were not many options available for a hungry Wookie on a desolate island like Ahch-To. There was the alternative of shadowing Luke and learning to fish for huge, disgusting sea beings, but, it was unlikely that he would have milked the Thala sea siren. The green milk might have given a good appearance to his fur though. Ultimately Chewbacca becomes friends with Porgs, and they help out at Crait.
The Porgs didn’t turn out to be the irritating element as people had anticipated. They were nothing like Ewoks and far different from Jar Jar Binks. Although we don’t support violence, the latest video showing the over-excited Porg being on the receiving end of Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber is really hilarious.
