The official announcement related to Colton Haynes coming back to Arrow was made in December. Haynes has now shared behind-the-scenes visuals related to his comeback on the set of The CW’s DC superhero show.
Haynes posted a couple of pictures featuring himself with the Arrow team on Instagram. David Ramsey (John Diggle), Willa Holland (Thea Queen), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), and Stephen Amell are featured in the photographs, and everyone seems to be delighted upon the team’s reunion. Have a look at the photographs below:
“Friday’s night shoot with my #Arrow fam…guess who’s back…back again…” the photos were captioned by Haynes.
The Arrow’s fans had been clamoring for Haynes return to play Arsenal, for quite a while. He was among the very first members to join Team Arrow, playing the vigilante Arsenal and romancing Thea. Arsenal, as well as Haynes, exited the show during a season 4 episode “Unchained.” A tiny cameo was made by Haynes during “Invasion!”, But, he had been openly talking about his willingness to come back to the show. Now that comeback is happening, and Arrow’s producers assure that this return would wrap up an “urgent matter” related to Team Arrow.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Colton Haynes will be reprising his role as Roy Harper for a short arc on Arrow this year,” The Arrow’s Executive Producers Marc Guggenheim and Wendi Mericle stated. “Roy is called back to Star City to help resolve an urgent matter with high stakes for the team. His short visit turns into something surprising when he reunites with Thea and sparks a change in both of their lives that will have long-lasting consequences…”
Fans are aware of quite a few “urgent matters” faced by Team Arrow in the current season. They are challenged by a highly complex and deadly villain Cayden James (Michael Emerson), and the team is also fragmented, an issue which is further compounded by the allegations against Oliver Queen about him being the Green Arrow, which might result in him getting jailed. Even in the past, Roy has shown up and put on the Green Arrow’s costume to ensure that Oliver gets away with it. Thus, it is but, obvious that Roy would come back to once again protect his friend cum mentor.
Hayes returns to Arrow in episode 15, likely to be aired in March.
Arrow will be back after the winter break, later this week when the midseason premiere episode “Divided” will be aired on Thursday, January 18 at 9/8c on The CW.
