Chasing the ‘Gladiators’ of the ’90s – Then and Now!
3. Blaze (Eunice Huthart)
Eunice Huthart remains the only former contender on the show to be invited back in a different role – a Gladiator. It was with much glory and fanfare that she was welcomed back. She overcame the Trevelator to clinch victory as the female champion in 1994. She was a complete package – power, courage and skills (alright that is enough).
After her victory in 1994, she went on to become a very successful stunt double. She got her Hollywood break in Goldeneye (1995) where she was the double for Famke Janssen. And since then, she has performed stunts in major Hollywood blockbusters including the likes of The Fifth Element, Titanic, The Avengers, and The Wolfman.
Whenever Angelina Jolie needs a double, she is the person you turn to. She frequently doubles for Angelina Jolie – including the Tomb Raider series, Salt, Mr and Mrs Smith. Most recently she was the stunt co-ordinator of Maleficent.
She shares a close relationship with Angelina Jolie. Eunice was made the godmother to Jolie’s daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. 2013 saw her become the first person in the US to file a lawsuit against News Corporation in regards to phone hacking allegations. Later the case got dismissed.
4. Ace (Warren Furman)
Warren Furmanor Ace as he was known on the show, was a part of Gladiator from 1996 to 2000 as the blonde haired muscular man whose biceps are bulging. His other TV experience includes BBC’s DIY SOS as a temporary replacement in Lowri Turner’s team.
The other time Warren came to the limelight aside from his Gladiator days was during his brief engagement to Katie Price in the late ‘90s. He claimed that the former glamour model constant berated and humiliated him during their relationship. Back in 2009, he told The Sun that Katie Price was “sweet and loving” when they first met. That changed shortly after her breast enlargement. He quoted her as berating him with the hurtful and fatal line: “You’re just a washed-up old Gladiator. I’m more famous than you.”
The end result was that the engagement didn’t last for very long.
