Blumhouse officially declared the commencement of production of the Halloween reboot in South Carolina via social media. While production was scheduled to start earlier in October last year, however, casting issues slowed things down. No matter what, the Halloween reboot is now up and running and seems to be all set to release in October as per plans. There was an announcement recently about the Michael Myers star Nick Castle coming back to play the character of The Shape, and Jamie Lee Curtis will play Laurie Strode.
Rough House Pictures wished the Halloween reboot a happy first day of filming via Instagram. They shared a video featuring a lady who is seen dancing with the legendary Michael Myers mask and the original John Carpenter music playing in the background. Earlier in November, it was reported that casting issues had stopped the production. But, there were also reports about the production starting in either January or February, thus, now production seems to be progressing well to keep the movie’s original release date of October 19th, 2018.
Jamie Lee Curtis’s comeback has put more pressure on the Halloween reboot. The fans of the original Halloween films have been wary of this movie when it was announced earlier due to the involvement of Danny McBride and David Gordon Green. A lot of people felt that this duo was good at comedy and won’t understand how to handle the Halloween franchise. What was even worse is that a lot of fans thought that the movie would turn out to be a comedy. McBride and Green have now managed to excite those skeptical fans with their talk about sticking to the feel of the original film and not focusing on the sequels. This along with the comeback of the original cast has once again revitalized fans trust, but, also added more pressure for the film to meet their expectations.
During an interview recently, Danny McBride shared that they were going to overlook the sequels and are considering the new Halloween reboot to be a continuation of the original film. He also disclosed that they would focus more on fear rather than gore on the film, and that’s something which the original film signified. Jamie Lee Curtis’ character of Laurie Strode didn’t find out about Michael Myers till the climax of the original film, and that’s something which McBride and David Gordon Green will use to their benefit in the reboot.
While Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, and Jason Blum have talked at length about the Halloween reboot and what it entails, there are no details available about the storyline. Blum has assured that the film will release as per schedule on October 19th, 2018, but, what is it going to show to the Halloween fans on the cinema screens during this year’s Halloween? We just hope that they can keep the plot under wraps till the time the film releases in theaters. As of now, you can have a look at the announcement of the start of filming below, provided by the Instagram account of Rough House Pictures.
