George R.R Martin has explicitly stated that the forthcoming Game Of Thrones spin-off is not going to be about “Robert’s Rebellion” or “Dunk & Egg.” At this point, the writers room created by HBO with George as the chair is considering 5 storylines for the spin-offs. Martin has confirmed that the spin-off is going to be a prequel. George also points in his blog that show is not going to be a spin-off in the traditional sense, and he has been calling it a “Successor Show.”
Now, the interesting point here is that HBO has ordered the writers to develop pilot scripts for five different shows set in the realm of Game Of Thrones. Five different writers are working on these projects, and all of them are getting their scripts grilled by George.
HBO has declared the names of the four writers, they are Max Borenstein, Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland, and Carly Wray, and the 5th author is still not revealed, but Martin has expressly applauded this mysterious writer’s talent in his blog post calling him the Pundit of the world of Westeros. We will have to wait till HBO formally announces his name after the closure of his the deal, but he has already started to work on developing his idea for the Pilot episode.
All of these writers are going to deliver a complete script that is ready for filming the Pilot, and it depends on executives to decide which ones are going to land on the network for the general audience. There is no guarantee that all five of these scripts will get to shoot the pilot episode.
According to the latest scoop that we gathered from THR Central, the spin-off that got finalized out of the five ideas for shooting the pilot is Blackfyre Rebellion. The selection of Blackfyre for Pilot episode doesn’t mean that all the other show scripts will get expelled. They are still under discussion and will get their fair chance to be judged by the executives at HBO.
The show is set 100 years before the events of the original Game Of Thrones. Aegon Targaryen Saga will be explored in this series. It will pick up a ton of characters and story arcs from books, Ice & Fire and the World Of Ice & Fire. The story will focus on the Daemon Waters, the bastard child Of Aegon Targaryen, who gets legitimized by his father just before his death. Daemon is a warrior, and he is not happy with the way Aegon’s true born son Daeron is running the Empire. He initiates a rebellion named “The Great Bastards” by forming an alliance with his other bastard brothers against Daeron’s army and takes up the name of “Blackfyre.”
If you have read the books “Ice And Fire” and the “World Of Ice And Fire” you will know that Blackfyre rebellion has everything from politics to massive battles, inter-family drama, incredible dialogues, well-rounded characters, insane sex, and even magic that is perfect for recapturing the charm of the original series.
Blackfyre Rebellion’s script is complete and has the approval to film the pilot episode, which means that the studio is now considering actors for this show. The cast of the original Game Of Thrones is exceptionally skilled, and the cast selection panel finalized all the right actors for the roles. They need to recreate the same magic once again in the spin-off because these actors are going to carry the weight of the complicated story of Game Of Thrones on their shoulder throughout the series. THR Central has released a list of the actors that are in talks with HBO for filming the Blackfyre Rebellion’s pilot episode. Here are the names of the artists with the names of the characters they will be playing in the show:-
