This is nothing more than a reminder and every time we reflect upon the comic book history; there is always something interesting enough to connect with the modern day happenings.
Recently, we heard about the President’s executive order limiting refugees, and it brought to relevance a Public Service Announcement that DC had incorporated into their comic books back in 1949. In the aftermath of the World War II, United States was grappling with a large number of refugees flocking to the country from other countries ravaged by war.
This is the 1949’s Batman #57 created by Jack Schiff and Win Mortimer.
Two years ago, Albert Ching had also highlighted a similar Public Service Announcement from the 1960 which showed Superman tackle the refugees as a part of the UN’s “World Refugees Year” which commemorated the end of the refugee camps set up in the wake of the WWII (It is another scary thing to realize that the refugee camps existed till as late as the 1960s!)
In any case, Batman is sharing wisdom, and we must pay attention to him!
