Hollywood is on a perennial mission to remake any film that had released during the 1980s, and it has once again chosen the next such movie in the form of 48 Hrs. The 1982 movie is a buddy cop film featuring Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte as two of the most unlikely fellows who became allies to catch a cop murderer within 48 hours. The film was loved by critics and made money at the box office as well, and it was pivotal in making Eddie Murphy the movie star that he is. It is not surprising that you feel disgusted at the suggestion of yet another remake. However, this film has really managed to get some interesting young talent associated with it. Bennie and Josh Safdie, the brothers who made this year’s movie Good Time, are set to write and direct this action flick reboot.
The Hollywood Reporter informs that Paramount Pictures has hired Benny and Josh Safdie to jointly write and direct the 48 Hrs. Remake. The duo created strong ripples this year when their Robert Pattinson crime thriller movie Good Time released. The film was heaped with praises by critics, and now the brothers have got a chance to helm a much bigger project. Chernin Entertainment is taking care of the production responsibilities, and it was also the force behind The Planet of the Apes franchise’ reboot, which wrapped up this summer with the release of War for the Planet of the Apes.
