Let’s be honest, George Romero, he isn’t the big cheese, the head honcho, the numero uno any more. While the movies like Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead are historic classics they are outdated by today’s standard with the high budget costs, better makeup effects, and named talents.
The Walking Dead came on the scene and blew viewers out of the water. It had complex characters and storylines that weren’t the typical Romero cardboard cut outs. I personally take The Walking Dead to heart. I find The Walking Dead to be rather depressing and closer to reality than any other zombie work of fiction.
As a horror writer, myself, I love to dabble into the macabre and my stuff I’m working on at the moment could be considered depressing but when it comes to the movies I watch I love Romero’s characters. Dr. Sarah Bowman from Day of the Dead was way better than an Ellen Louise Ripley anyday. To me characters don’t need to be completely realistic. Sometimes an ounce of realism can take a character far and sometimes it’s the story and not the characters themselves that drive the plot line along. But I will admit The Walking Dead has some moving moments and characters from poor yet murderous Lizzie Samuels who killed her sister and almost got Judith Grimes as well.
The Walking Dead’s ratings have gone through the roof since its premiere. This can be attributed to its popularity among viewers between the ages of 18 and 49. I think this is due in part to its high production values, but it can also be because the showcase of eye candy.

She has recently become a babysitter for Rick’s child, Judith, creating a much stronger connection between the two of them.
I wonder how their relationship will go?
Andrea’s little sister, Amy was the first women of TWD to be brutalized. This led Andrea into downward spiral that got Merle and her eventually killed. Andrea, for her short time on TWD, became a fearless zombie-killer. This was due in part to her deceased sister Amy driving Andrea’s actions and inevitable demise.
