There’s no doubt that Star Wars is a standout amongst the most cherished film franchises in movie history. However, in spite of the recognition the Star Wars show has had throughout the decades, it also has a couple disappointing minutes. We’re going to focus on the dark side of the Force which fans openly have admitted to loathing. Here goes….
1. Greedo’s First Shot
The person majorly responsible for infuriating Star Wars fans is its very own maker George Lucas. An early example of outrage affected by Lucas came when he re-released the original trilogy with new effects in 1997. One of Lucas’ most important changes was in A New Hope, which was a scene between Greedo and Han Solo. The shot was marginally changed to make it look like Greedo shot to begin with, thereby answering an age-old question regarding the film. Lamentably, numerous fans weren’t happy with Lucas’ little adjustment.
Lucas backed up his decision various times by saying he didn’t want the movie’s hero Han Solo, to be shown as a relentless killer. This makes sense. The only trouble is that he portrayed Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, who was also one of the main characters all through the whole series, as a mass killer in Revenge of the Sith. This puts a huge question mark on Lucas’ thought process.
2. Campaign- #Boycott StarWars VII
It wasn’t the featuring of John Boyega’s in Star Wars: The Force Awakens that shocked fans. It was the racism that fans detested. When early trailers showed Boyega as one of the heroes, racialist trolls took arms and propelled a nitwit #BoycottStarWarsVII battle. The scornful hash tag and the woeful individuals behind it got an enormous reaction from Star Wars fans everywhere throughout the world. This included a reaction from Patton Oswalt, the comedian, who called it depressing.
